Why this sky arcade shortlist stops at three
Checked 5 November 2026. A note on length, not a sales pitch.
Three is a desk size, not a trophy count
I could pad this propwash with every Local Games build that loads. That would turn the ranking into a directory. A sky arcade shortlist only works if each card still has room for a best-for tag, a verdict line, and a written review. Three entries keep that promise.
Two aviators, one farm lane
Ink Ace and Mail Dive share a sky, not a verb. Paint dogfight versus dive-lob is enough contrast to justify both. Mill Hop breaks the biplane rhyme on purpose so the shortlist does not read as a single-mechanic mirror. Stretching to five would force either duplicate verbs or weaker hooks.
What I refused to invent
Store stars, install counters, and “top of 2026” phrasing stay off the page. The ranking criteria are play clarity, fail honesty, and session fit. If a later check adds or drops a build, the check archive gets a dated row.
How to read the list
Rank 1 is the cleanest first-ten-seconds teach. Rank 2 is the sharpest alternate aviator fantasy. Rank 3 is the deliberate theme break. Play any of them from the cards; the order is an editorial call, not a physics law.
